I am a total newcomer to hardware tinkering, though not basic programming. I have a fairly urgent need for a piece of hardware I couldn't afford, even if it existed somewhere. I stumbled on Bela a few days after I prototyped what I want, and it appears to offer what I need in terms of specs.

I'm hoping someone here can help me confirm that Bela is the hardware I need to build a 'spatial monitor'. Here's the functional breakdown:

Picks up sound in the human hearing range through two high quality condenser microphones spaced at 'ear distance'. (typically these mics require phantom power/a pre-amp)
Shapes the signal with very little latency and routes it to speakers; Allows discrete configuring of right and left side of the signal; compression and noise reduction, with sudden loud attacks gated out of the mix, and pre-sets for these and other equalization parameters. Ideally these parameters could be configured through OEM messages through a DAW rather than having to build them from scratch.
Broadcasts the sound through ear buds/headphones to the user in real time.

Can anybody here tell me if Bela is in fact a good tool to prototype this thing with?
