More analog outs - demux? SPI DAC?

Hi!

My final uni project is coming up and I want to make a hybrid analog/digital polysynth. my supervisor suggested that I use bela, but the main problem I'm having is not having enough analog outs. I need these for outputting control voltages and digital waveforms. The route I would like to go down is using an external DAC connected to bela over SPI or i2c. does anyone have any resources on this? alternatively, has anyone had any success with demultiplexing the outputs?

That's very complicated as you'd need a sample and hold on each channel.

I needed up to 32 audio-synchronized analog outputs for a four channel laser show system. The solution which gave great results was to simply use multiple bela units running in parallel. My opinion, based on the success of this project, is that bela is an amazingly capable platform which offers a constellation of features not easily found in any other available platform.
