Yes. BELABOOT is not meant for general file storage. Dragging and dropping the files through the IDE (or using the upload button for larger files) puts them on the SD card's main partition, but that one tends to have only little over 1GB available.
brkmrkt We learned that until around 2019 you needed to go through a github manual to extend the second (on the macos invisible) partition of the microSD.
You still need to follow that procedure to extend the size of the main partition. Unfortunately, that is an ext4 filesystem so you won't be able to see it from the host computer. Perhaps you could create a larger FAT32 partition in the empty space of the sd card and then make it accessible from the host.
I don't have a readily available tutorial to create this extra partition. You can do that using fdisk or some more user-friendly GUI-based partitioning software. I think disk utility on mac should be able to do it for you. Once you have the partition creates I can help you make it so that it can be accessed from the host while the board is plugged in.
A word of warning: FAT32 partitions are corruption-prone and any time you write to it from the host you should make sure that you:
- safely eject the drive from the host
- gracefully shutdown the board
A couple alternatives you may consider:
- use a USB stick for storage instead of SD card
- place the SD card (or USB stick) directly on the host to copy the files over (instead of mounting it through the Bela board) to minimise risk of filesystem corruption
