Hi, I am just starting to get to know Bela with the Online course and the tutorials. My goal is to control smal home made electromagnetics motors with analog I/O of the Bela. My background is not Electronics so I would really be grateful if you could help me with those 2 questions :
1) In the tutorial Learn: Controlling Motors with Bela ( https://blog.bela.io/2018/12/10/bela-controlling-dc-motors/ ), a warning is given on flybacks :
quote : " When controlling motors or solenoids a flyback diode in the circuit is essential to protect the board from voltage spikes."
In the tutorial, motor control is realized with digital I/O, could you tell me if the risk still exists when using analog I/O ?
2) In the same tutorial we can read : "No voltage higher than 3.3V should go into the Bela digital I/O. Failing to do so can make your Bela board unusable."
In class 6 of the online course (
min: 7'20, I understood that as analog inputs are DC-coupled, it could be possible to use 5V power supply for this application.
Could you help me confirm, I understood well ?
If there is already discussions or tutorial about this, I apologies and would be very happy to read them if you could post the link !
Thanks in advance for your help !
