Connect asdf Keyboard to Bela? / MakeyMakey?

Would it be possible to connect a keyboard (and thus MakeyMakey) to Bela in a way?

You can plug a normal USB computer keyboard into the USB-A socket on the Beaglebone Black.

Curious so I hooked one up. Nothing without getting a bit deeper it seems. You could upload a USBMIDI-based sketch to your MaKeyMaKey though, I have one kicking about somewhere.

if it's configured to show up as a keyboard it is definitely usable but there is need for some work (e.g.: opening the right device). Someone on the forum a few years back managed to connect a keyboard and read individual characters from it. @Dianne what programming language would you be using with it? Also, what of the sensing capabilities of the MakeyMakey would you be using?
