SamR I was wondering is there any commercial products out there using Bela?
Not that we are both aware of and allowed to talk about. What we can say is that we regularly provide consultancy to third parties interested in creating a product around the core Bela technology. We are always eager to provide our services to users willing to integrate Bela (or a subset of its technologies) into a commercial product. There may also be on the market some products that use the Bela technology without the Bela branding.
lokki that the BELA is quite expensive to be in a commercial product...
For the right numbers (in terms of number of manufactured units), a cost-effective subset of features can be identified, that is well suited for the application at hand, and the resulting BOM cost can become a fraction of the retail price of the maker board. As it's often the case, it is a trade-off between upfront engineering costs to customize and optimize the design and the per-unit cost of the final product. There are definitely cases where a product may have been ideated and prototyped using Bela, but Bela is not the ideal platform to take it to the market.
