@giuliomoro

i got this timeout errors yesterday three times when working on a project. is this something to be worried about? is my BELA slowly failing?

Sorry I forgot to reply to the previous message. This just normally means there has been an error in the digital communication between the PRU and the codec. I should make that message more meaningful and less worrying. It's still there as a leftover from the days where we didn't know what was happening. This case is already (more or less) gracefully handled for the CTAG (by restarting the audio when this happens), but not yet for the Bela capes.

Normally we see these errors happen when plugging/unplugging devices to the board. Is that what is happening to you? Or does it happen while the board is not even being touched?

    giuliomoro no problem...

    would disconnecting usb midi devices fall in that category? (although i was not aware of doing that yesterday)
    other then that, there is nothing connected.

    since the program crashes immediately, this would kind of defeat the purpose of your midi reconnect patch. but the PRU timeout does bot happen everytime i unplug the midi device.

      lokki would disconnecting usb midi devices fall in that category?

      no, normally USB is not a problem. It happens to me sometimes when I plug an audio cable in that generates a ground loop, at which point some noise is injected in the McASP and I get the timeout and need to restart the program. I will try to get the graceful handling to work.

      In the meantime, you may want to check that you have no loose wire connections in your setup. If you suspect it's an issue with the board itself, email me and you can send it back for replacement.

        giuliomoro In the meantime, you may want to check that you have no loose wire connections in your setup.

        there is nothing connected besides the usb device and an sm-58 and headphones.

        i have a not so sturdy xlr to jack cable at the audio input, probably that is the cause then...

        Are you clipping the input heavily perhaps? It's not like I have seen that cause this issue, but worth checking
