Ive been playing with Pepper quite a bit... and really enjoy it,
but for audio the output level is a bit of a bind, as Ive only a couple of things in the case able to amp from line level up to modular level ... and as i have 2 peppers I need 4 channels amplifying.
... so inevitably, look like I'll need to find a small HP module, that can amp 4 channels
(any suggestions welcome!)
but I was wondering if I could somehow mod it to change the audio output levels to be a it higher (module levels , so 8-10vpp?) - more convenient and cheaper 🙂
I thinking something simple, like a daughter board sat behind the main board,
containing, a dual op amp, so a couple of resistors to achieve the gain required, we then take the +/-12v/GND from the eurorack connector on pepper.
connection to audio... ground can remain the where it is, so a matter of just cutting the signal line jack/track
so we can take to the opamp, and then reconnect at the jack.
I was wondering how viable you think this is... and where you think perhaps the best place to break the audio out signal lines is? (on boards that are already built ... so accessibility is also potentially fun )
(*) Im thinking just use hot glue or similar to attach the daughter board, as don't really want to start drilling the pcb, and similar where im soldering to pickup points only (like +12v/-12v) , once soldered I'll hot glue to give a little bit of mechanical 'support'
alternative to this (just found) is a module from ladik
e.g. Ladik A-520 4ch(in) line preamp is £40
perhaps easier, and Ive got some tiny patch cables for jumper type connections.
