Hi everyone,
I recently started using the Bela Gem Multi platform for ultrasonic acoustic sensing research. My goal is to build a high-sampling-rate active sensing system using ultrasonic propagation (roughly 20kHz–45kHz) for environmental sensing experiments.
Right now I can boot the system and run basic audio examples, but I am still confused about the hardware side:
- What microphones are commonly used with Bela for ultrasonic or high-frequency sensing?
- MEMS/I2S microphones?
- Analog microphones?
- Any recommended models with usable response above 20kHz?
- What speakers/tweeters are suitable for transmitting ultrasonic chirps or ZC sequences?
- Is there a common tweeter setup people use with Bela?
- Do I need an external amplifier?
- Has anyone here built:
- ultrasonic ranging,
- echolocation,
- acoustic localization,
- or ultrasonic sensing systems with Bela?
If yes, I would really appreciate:
- hardware recommendations,
- wiring/setup advice,
- example projects,
- or papers/projects using Bela for ultrasonic sensing.
I am especially interested in stable frequency response and synchronized multi-channel acquisition for acoustic propagation analysis.
Thanks!
