Midi in standalone mode

I have a Bela Gem Stereo and in standalone mode running a PD patch, It do not work with QuNeo midi controller. In Bela IDE mode the controller is not recognized the first time I run the patch, then I have to stop the patch, disconnect midi from usb port, run without midi, stop it and run it again with the controller connected. The third time midi works, but in standalone mode it is impossible.

What do you see doing ls /dev/snd/ in each of those situations?

How are you reading the inputs in Pd? You should consider using this to make sure you always read from both hw:0,0,0 and hw:1,0,0: https://forum.bela.io/d/7509-using-midi-over-usb-a-gem-multi-pd/9

but in standalone mode it is impossible.

If if send hw 0 0 0 to send bela_setMidi midi is received but all controls values are 0
When I stop the patch IDE I shows this message

How are you powering the board in standalone mode?

With an external battery

If this is consistently reproducible, then why would you need to plug, unplug, replug as you described in the first post?

If I start Bela with the controller connected to the USB port, the MIDI doesn't work and I get the following error in the IDE when starting the patch.

If I start Bela with the controller disconnected from the USB port and connect it before starting the patch in the IDE, the MIDI works fine

In standalone mode, if I start the board with the controller connected, the MIDI doesn't work. The same thing happens when I connect it after starting the board.

What do you get when you start Bela with the controller connected to the USB port and you run ls /dev/snd/ ?

if you update your board, it will always use hw:0,0,0 for the MIDI connection to the host, so your QuNeo will always be at hw:1,0,0, regardless of whether it's running stand alone or not. That should take some of the uncertainty out of the testing.
