GemStereo not working

squeezed the bejeesus out of them. The boards seem to be fully engaged and properly seated. (And it did work a couple of times)

Are there any diagnostics I can run to see what the communication between the two board is?

sshing into the board words fine. looks like interfaces/ifup isn't bein, g used, but nmcli isn't there either so looking forward to the wifi connnection page - though it's all moot if I can't make any noise

What do you get with i2cdetect -y -r 2 ?

Also add --verbose to the command line options when running the program and post that output here.

That's the expected result for a stereo. Can you rum the program adding --verbose to the command line options?

I don't want to totally hijack this thread from OP, but I can give it a try to help out. I have been using the web UI and running the C++/Fundamentals/Sinetone example, and just clicking the "Build and run" button in the GUI.

Is there an equivalent CLI command I should type out to add --verbose to?

@marcofarfa thanks for the log. Can you please try to drag the following:

download this file https://files.bela.io/bela-dtbs-100khz.deb
drag it on top of the IDE
follow the installation instructions on screen
once done, reboot the board

and see if the problem persists?

oopsie! I did this, aand now the board won't boot

It powers on, solid blue on the bela board, then the bela board light turns off as does the beagle board

Oh well that's unexpected. Did you get an installation dialog when you dragged it on the IDE?

I did.

Just tried again - downloaded bela-dtbs-100khz.deb and flashed it to the card. Ran the gem, getting the same codec fault as before. Copied your patch over again and voila.

I then ran an update through the IDE and it still works.

thanks both, this update (which slows down the i2c bus to the codec to 100kHz) is now available for everyone via an update through the IDE.

@marcofarfa @grahamsw would you be able at some point to remove the cape from the PB2 and verify whether the resistors R1 and R2 are in place? Bonus points if you have a multimeter and can measure the resistance across each resistor.

To remove the cape I normally insert a flat head screwdriver in between the headers and then go around the board bit by bit, like in this video.

Be gentle and careful. Push a tiny bit at a time.

I got the resistance of both to be 10K

and miracle of miracles, it still works when I reassembled it.
