Bela GEM and Ideas for the Nosy

Hello There,

I have recently seen the GEM to be an evident stereo type Cape to a very powerful and small SBC called the Pocket Beagle 2.

I am sort of an all around user of beagleboard type boards and learn within their frameworks and branch out at times.

I do not branch out so much that I would ever compete in this field but I still would like to know some particulars.

When does Bela GEM get started to ship to mouser?
About how much would a singular user like me expect to pay for a single Bela GEM?
Also, does the same style of C++ apply in the field of Bela GEM like with the Bela Cape and Bela Cape Mini?

My technical knowledge is hit or miss at times and during some sporadic times, I get smart in the field. It really depends on me and my work ethic around the boards and Capes like the Bela Cape with the BeagleBone Black.

I made one post only I think during the builds of the Cape for Bela and the BBB. There was a nice fellow called transmorgfix that helped me severely with builds around the Cape and C++ in general.

Anyway, long story longer, I stopped playing guitar and stopped building 3D Printed instruments for no reason whatsoever. This hindered my progress with Bela and the Cape for the BBB at the time.

Anyway and so, just a reckoning here and a reup of building around Bela technology is in the forecast for me. I have been messing with guitar again and finally found the right tuners for my 3D Printed violin (full size version).

Broken as it may be for now, I am one wire away from creating tunes again.

So yep, that is all for now.

Production in ongoing, and the boards should be with mouser in December. Currently we are planning to keep the same price as the one that is currently listed on https://www.crowdsupply.com/bela/bela-gem-stereo-and-multi.

Code from Bela can be ported to Gem without changes, so long as you were only using the Bela API and Bela libraries. Other stuff on the Linux side has changed, so if you were doing anything esoteric you may have to re-jig it, but I wouldn't expect anything major.

Nice. Thank you for the feedback here. I was so surprised to see how many Bela projects made it to light. I was only aware of the BBB and PB Capes of Bela.

There was a fellow called, and let me get his name right this time, transmogriFX and he showed me some neat and nifty tools in C++ around Bela Hardware to handle C++ wawa and so on...

I stopped due to cheap instruments and low noise for feedback. I actually brought a 3/4 Violin to the Maker Faire here in my city where I live, played it, and scared the entire block. Yea boy!

They had 45 girls dancing to booty-dancing rap music and I turned up the volume to the violin, strummed it, and bellowed out a horrific sound. They all looked over. 45 girls looking at me gave me the feeling of a good vibe.

I tried to, while the girls were in disgust from the 3/4 violin sounds, get people to join in and play it.

Someone tried it and quickly said, "No." They moved on instead of getting it tuned and ready to jam.
