Connecting multiple Belas (and Minis?)

Hi,

I’m new to the forums here, so forgive me if this has been discussed before (I couldn’t find anything relevant by searching)..

Has there been any work/research/tutorials/etc done to illustrate how to best connect multiple Belas together?

“Best” in this case would be some combo of cheapest, easiest, highest bandwidth, lowest latency.

Is OSC over WiFi typically how people manage this? Or are there opportunities to add a wire or two to make things a bit more robust?

The general topology I’m thinking of is, a Bela mini in an instrument, and another BBB Bela living in a pedal (x2 or 3?), with some way to share control data, and ideally also audio buffer data.

On regular Bela you could use ethernet to synchronize timing with a good degree of accuracy, and also send some wide bandwidth data. On BelaMini, there is no way to have native ethernet support. On both you could do wifi and possibly BLE. If wiring is an option, using Serial communication is the easiest. In any case, OSC is a good protocol, but given how you have full control on both end of the transmission, you can implement whatever works for you.

We'd need to know more about your specific application, for instance, what do you mean by audio buffer data? is that about exchanging samples or real-time streaming?
