Using Pixelbone with Pure Data

Thanks again for the amazing help. I got it working now really nice.
Next, I wanted to implement the same volume controle for headphones and speakers as in my other project https://forum.bela.io/d/6968-using-arduino-with-bela-pure-data/19.
I tried to implement it exactly the same way, but when I try to change the Line Out Level, I get a lot of crackling noises on the speaker and a lot of those messages:
Underrun detected: 13 blocks dropped Underrun detected: 13 blocks dropped Underrun detected: 13 blocks dropped Underrun detected: 10 blocks dropped Underrun detected: 13 blocks dropped Underrun detected: 13 blocks dropped Underrun detected: 13 blocks dropped
I do not get this problem controlling the headphone volume. Any idea what might cause this?

Controlling both volumes is not a real-time safe operation, so those underruns are expected. I am surprised you only get them in one case and not in the other.

If you are doing these adjustments only occasionally, you may be able to avoid any noise by setting your output to 0 (via a [*~] just before the [dac~] for a few ms before you attempt the change. If you need to be able to do these smoothly and often, then some more work is needed on the C++ side.

Ok, I will try this. The difference also was that the headphone control worked (in controlling the actual volume) and the amp control did not work.
In my guitar patch I had no problems, but there I did a lot less controlling. This is why I thought maybe it’s connected to controlling all the neopixel?
But I will recheck if I did anything different here accidentally when I get back to the project after the weekend.

So you mean that sending to bela_setLineOutLevel causes the underruns but has no effect on the speaker level?

it's weird that the one working (headphones) does not cause underruns but the one that doesn't work (line) does cause underruns.

Hey, yes but I had some problems because I had the PD patch open on my laptop and at the same time on the bela and my laptop seemed to send neopixel data as well to the Bela. Now the volume control is working and with turning off the volume in PD before changing the amp volume is working, not perfect, but ok. Thanks!

Hi, one more question.
I’m currently using the dev branch and Pixelbone O2L in my project. Is there an easy way to copy my full setup to another Bela board (using windows) so it’s ready to run immediately?

you should use an SD card, copy the eMMC of this board to the SD card and then use the SD card on another board directly, or flash it on the other board's eMMC.

Boot the board without the SD card, then insert the SD card and execute the below command in the console at the bottom of the IDE to copy the emmc to the SD card:

FLASH_DESTINATION=sd /opt/Bela/bela_flash_emmc.sh && echo DONE

it takes about 10 minutes and it shows minimum progress, so be patient.

If you want to flash the eMMC from this sd card on another board, you'll have to boot from the SD card there, then you can do:

/opt/Bela/bela_flash_emmc.sh && echo DONE

Thanks for the reply. This worked. But I have one Problem. With the new Bela my "start on boot" does not work anymore. When I (re)select start on boot for my patch in the IDE it looks fine. But when I turn Bela off and on again nothing happens. When I reconnect to the IDE I get this in the console:

after boot, clear the console and then run the following in the console: journalctl -n 2000 --boot -u bela_startup and show here the full log you get then.

It seems that it is killed once. It should be automatically restarted after that but it is not.
Can you show the content of:

/opt/Bela/bela_startup.sh and /opt/Bela/local/bela_startup.sh if it exists?

All is as expected, but I am confused why it doesn't restart. Can you try renaming your project to loop_Sternenhimmel and set that one to run on boot?
