Noob Question: VNC possible?

Is bela a complete "headless" operative system?
in case not is there a way to access its GUI maybe with a VNC client?
I know that I cannot use the HDMI interface because it shares pin with the real-time audio but maybe, but maybe, I thought, I could still access the GUI in another way...

it is completely headless in that it doesn't have a screen. I have in the past installed relevant packages on a first-generation Bela (based on the BeagleBone Black) and VNC'd into that. It's not a great experience as the rendering is pretty slow, though things may have improved as now I think they have a driver for the GPU, but kindof doable for some purposes.

What do you need the GUI for? And are you referring to the GUI of the Bela IDE or some other generic GUI program?

On the new Gem things should be much better, quad core, more processing and a better GPU.

I'm a SuperCollider user and, now that I am starting to experiment with Bela, something about its browser IDE, using it for SuperCollider, does not convince me.

I was therefore wondering whether I could not program SuperCollider with its IDE directly from the operating system's GUI without having to write code from the browser.

There are probably different ways to be more “comfortable” in writing code. Like perhaps writing code elsewhere (on my laptop for example) and then uploading the whole project to Bela...

If it's just for SuperCollider, then the best option is to use the SC IDE on your computer while the SC server runs on the board. See the example SuperCollider/7-remote-control for how to do it.
