Getting started while waiting for CTAG

Hello,
I'm waiting for the release of the CTAG cape, in the meantime I would like to explore the HW environment. I know I can't run anything but I can explore a lot anyway. I already have a Beaglebone Black sitting in my drawer. I've looked at the getting started instructions, but they seem to assume the target HW is already set up with the Bela software.

Is it possible for me to set up the Bela target environment while waiting for the CTAG cape to be released? And if so, can someone point me at instructions for how to do so?
