Bela doesn't turn on. HELP

with the instructions above, if you boot up the board and need to make a change to your patch, run this in the console at the bottom of the IDE:

mount /dev/mmcblk0p2 -o remount,rw /

and the partition will be read/write until you power it off: no need to edit /etc/fstab back and forth if you are happy with running this command once every boot.

As for the button solution, if you need it only to turn off the board you can connect a momentary switch to P2.12. Connect it to ground briefly and it will start a graceful shutdown procedure, similarly to holding the Bela button down for 2 seconds.

But doesn't the connection between P2.34 and a momentary switch also require holding it for 2 seconds? Does the connection to P2.12 only need an instant connection to work?

My issue is that I have a momentary switch between P2.34 and ground, and I need to hold it for 2 seconds to shut it down. However, since the momentary switch (an expensive €4 one) struggles to maintain a consistent connection, most of the times it fails to work the shut-down and instead changes to another project. I'm considering replacing the momentary switch with a toggle switch, but I’m wondering if plug in the power while there’s a connection between P2.34 and ground could be dangerous.

p2.12 requires a momentary contact to start the shutdown
P2.34 on momentary contact stops the current Bela program. When held for 2 seconds starts the shutdown.

No, that's fine: no damage will occur. However, if left in that position it will prevent Bela programs from running and possibly cause a shutdown shortly after the board has booted.
