Difference Between Bela Kits

Hello,

I have already purchased a "CTAG BEAST STARTER KIT" for my project. The main interest of my project is getting 8 channel input using 8 microphones live with at least 8kHz sampling rate each mic. With my "CTAG BEAST STARTER KIT" I am able to do that using UDP protocol and a little adjustment in audio adapter cable. Anyway, the "CTAG BEAST STARTER KIT" is a little bit heavy for my project (everything should be as light as possible). The main question is: What is the difference between "CTAG BEAST STARTER KIT" and "BELA MINI MULTICHANNEL EXPANDER STARTER KIT"? Am I able to get 8 channel input using 8 microphones live with at least 8kHz sampling rate each mic using "BELA MINI MULTICHANNEL EXPANDER STARTER KIT"? If answers for these two questions is affirmative, I am planning to buy "BELA MINI MULTICHANNEL EXPANDER STARTER KIT" since it is light.

I forgot to state that I have to record in 16bit. Is it possible to record 8 channel input with 16 bit resolution with at least 8kHz sampling in each mic.

The BELA MINI MULTICHANNEL EXPANDER STARTER KIT provides 8 audio inputs which also include a microphone preamplifier. I think it is a good substitute for the CTAG BEAST in your application.

What are the main difference between these 2 products from input side (output is not my concern)?

The ctag line uses an AD1938 codec, while the Bela line uses a TLV320AIC3104. The difference in the respective input stages will reflect that of the two codecs.
