Host/Device routing Q

Hello

I am interacting with the IDE / Bela Pepper currently via connecting my computer to the beaglebone mini USB port (i checked on some BB tuts and think this is correct connection)

I am wanting to do the breakout host/device panel and have ordered cables, but am getting a bit confused with routing.

On the forum is says The "host" is to connect to your computer, the "device" is to connect external peripherals such as MIDI controller.

However the suggested cable from ‘Host’ goes to the USB A port on BB, and it is the ‘device’ cable that has a mini USB/computer end connection?

Can you clarify the routing/ which is the right way? Am I going mad? Thanks V

*I also tried plugging my USB A cable (has a USB C end) into Host socket but this did’t work.

Judging from this https://github.com/BelaPlatform/bela-pepper/blob/master/Design%20Files/renders/Faceplate/USB-breakout-panel.pdf, HOST denotes a USB HOST port (where you will connect a device) and DEVICE is the USB DEVICE port, that you will connect to your HOST.

In other words, don't overthink it. If you ordered the recommended cables (mini B plug to full-size B socket and A plug to A socket), then just plug in cables that would naturally go there: USB-A or USB-C plug to USB-B plug to connect to your host computer, and plug a device into the USB-A socket.
