Bela Pepper pads connected q?

Hi, I am currently soldering the Bela Pepper Kit (attempt 2!)

I am on step 13 adding capacitor C9. When I put the capacitor in and turned over the board, I noticed that the right hand pad of C9, looked like it it was connected to left hand pad of the D1 flyback diode. I used my multimeter and it beeped. Can I check with you to see if this is correct, are they supposed to be linked electronically, or if not, have I have a faulty board? I attach a pic below.
