  • Glue-ing Trill Square?

Hey all - how are people fixing in their Trill sensors? We've glued our square to a piece of wood using Araldite, which works fine but noticed a dead spot on the middle right side of the sensor...

glueing itself shouldn't be an issue, but I would avoid any epoxy in the proximity of the chip, just in case it getting in contact with the IC's pads makes things weird. We often use double-sided tape cut to shape.

    I'm using a double sided transfer tape (3M 465 12mm wide).

It seems strong enough to hold the trill square, but not inseparable if you need to replace one.

just out of curiosity, are there any electrical "specialities" with epoxy? I know that some boutique guitar pedal makers cast a square around the electronics to hide the components used and I therefore assumed it would be safe... or does it just mess with the capacitive sensing?

yeah I have no idea honestly ... probably not, but it seemed something worth watching out for given the description of the issue ...

the only issue i could see is a mechanical one. epoxy is quite hard and non flexible, so the trill pcb or a part of it may break easier when epoxy is applied and a certain deformation occurs while applying pressure
