Wav file copying problem

I have been loading wav files into Bela using the scp command as follows:

scp -r SoundBanks/ root@bela.local:Bela/projects/myProject

On my laptop (MacBook Pro) this always works just fine. However, my colleague just tried the same approach on a Windows machine, and several of the wav files would not play, because they were apparently corrupted. I downloaded the files back from Bela onto the computer and they are indeed corrupted, giving an error code 0xC00D36C4.

We tried the same thing with the Windows machine several times, and in every instance some files were corrupted - though not always the same wav files every time.

Is there a better way to do this, or at least to check for corruption of files and try again?

That's really surprising. We use scp to do board update on windows when rsync is not available and that hasn't caused problems. Not sure why it would fail with wav files specifically, maybe because they are bigger? It's a very standard tool so you'd expect it tot be well tested and reliable . It may be down to some issues on the version of scp for Windows that you are using.

See if you have rsync available and if that works any better. Alternatively you can use filezilla or something similar to start an sftp connection and keep folders in sync. Can also upload through the Bela IDE, either via drag and drop if the files are small or via the upload button if they are bigger

To check for corruption you could run md5sum on the board and on the host and compare checksums

Aha, so it turns out this was actually something quite silly - I think we just weren't waiting long enough before unplugging the USB cable after the scp was supposedly complete! Waiting 10 seconds or so after all the wav files say 100% and it's fine.

yYou can run sync /path/to/file(s).wav to ensure they are synced to disk or, even better, -ah-ehm- start a graceful shutdown by running poweroff (or shutdown -h now) and that will do it for you and it's more reliable than waiting any amount of time.
