nickcamillo I was trying to record audio from my computer's headphone out into the bela and I accidentally wound up in a feedback loop. Since then everything I try to record sounds very scratchy and distorted. Did I fry something?
giuliomoro Is this with the 18i20? The headphone out seems to have a max out level of 7dBu / 1.73Vrms/ 4.9Vpp . That's well above the spec'ed input range for Bela (https://learn.bela.io/using-bela/about-bela/bela-hardware/#audio-io) of 1.8Vpp, which tolerates up to 3.3Vpp. Since Bela cape Rev B3 and BelaMini Rev B4, we have added some additional protection diodes that help protecting the inputs whenever the input level was larger than 3.3Vpp, but in this case maybe it was just ... too much.
nickcamillo giuliomoro gotcha. I ordered a new bela unit. Do you have any recommendations for additional protective circuits? Or was I just dumb?
