synchronizing multiple bela units

I am getting an impression from web searches that USB devices that are capable of NDIS communication over Ethernet are on separate networks because each USB port has a unique ID and therefore are on a separate IP network (for reasons I still don't understand.

Adding the other bela IP addresses to the etc/config file must essentially server as a virtual IP gateway for all listed devices.

In my last post I said:

What's the diff? 4 USB cables and a USB hub or 4 Ethernet cables and an Ethernet switch.

USB connection is obviously this simplest hardwire connection to the host computer, while Ethernet requires a connection to an Ethernet network PLUS power the bela with an external 5v supply.

giuliomoro I don't know if there are any downsides to this arrangement, but I would have normally recommended to change the subnet instead of the IP, i.e.: have one board on .6.2, one on .8.2, one on .9.2, one on .10.2, and changing the dhcpd.conf file to ensure the appropriate address is assigned to the host on each board. Then the host would have a different IP address for each of the USB ethernet connections (6.1, 8.1, 9.1, 10.1) and that would look nicer.

Thank you, I'll change to the recommended configuration immediately. I just didn't know what I was doing.
