Turn on and off analogue outs from PD?

I think this is going to be my final cry for help apart from MIDIREALTIMEIN..... (famous last words I know......)

When I access the SD card to load and save data, I get a lot of noise and clicks through the analogue outputs that I am using as extra audio outs.
Is there a method to mute them/switch them off while I am loading/saving, and then switch them back on again?

There is no easy way to do that, unfortunately.
I guess it could be done with a custom render file where - in response to a Pd message - you call Bela_stopAudio(); and Bela_startAudio();

I don't mean the main audio outputs, I mean the analogue outputs.
I guess I'll have to remember to turn down the speakers when loading!

The two functions above would switch both audio and analog off. Isolating the analogs would be even more complicated.

I think what is happening is: while you are saving/loading files, then your audio callback function does not run (e.g.: audio and sensors are not being processed), because it is busy executing the saving/loading, which takes longer than regular audio processing. At the same time the PRU (an onboard microcontroller) that performs the actual input/output keeps running (because we did not tell it to stop) and so it outputs whatever garbage it finds in memory, so we need to stop the PRU in order to prevent garbage from being output. This is done with the two functions above: Bela_stopAudio(); and Bela_startAudio();.
