nuromantix It seems like over time the BBB gets less and less power from the adapter. Nowadays my LCD screen is really dim and the analogue outs don't give out the correct voltages when I use the adapter. If I power from USB from the computer then it works OK. My last BBB had the same problem and eventually I had to throw it away and get a new one which worked for a year or two and is now developing the same problem. Any ideas about this? What is the minimum current requirement for an adapter for BBB with Bela? I am using a decent supply rated 5v / 2A.
giuliomoro Hmmm that's pretty weird. BBB with Bela should be fine at 0.5A , we recommend 1A but 2A is definitely more than enough. How much does the LCD absorb? Have you been using this very intensively (e.g.: has it been always on for 2 years?)? You may want to look for a BBB industrial in that case ... same board and processing specs, but extended temperature range and reliability (e.g.: https://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/BeagleBoard-by-Seeed-Studio/102110423?qs=sGAEpiMZZMv0NwlthflBi0Dbt%2FW0HGv%2F0Zrk8JqjxbQ%3D ), then in 2-3 years you can see whether that was the problem
nuromantix Hmm. Thanks. It's my drum machine, occassionally I leave it on for a few days. I will check the spec on the screen. It's just a 16x2 character thing.
nuromantix I took it to pieces and put it back together. Turned out to be one of those things where re-seating the ribbon connectors sorts it out. Thanks for the suggestions.
giuliomoro if it happens again, you could try and measure voltage at the power supply and at SYS_5V (P9.08), although it seems like it was just oxydation of the contacts?
