BELA stopped due to runide failure

Hi guys!

I just get started with a BELA Mini and I am having an issue with running my Csound instrument as well as the examples. Below is the error appeared at the end of the console:

Elapsed time at end of performance: real: 0.107s, CPU: 0.011s
Makefile:596: recipe for target 'runide' failed
make: *** [runide] Error 1
Bela stopped

I tried my own .csd file, the print example under Fundamental, the Trill examples, and some other examples but the error just happened to them. While a few examples run perfectly fine from time to time, most of them have the same error. I am not sure if there is something wrong with my installation since the example codes should not have any problems.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out! Thank you so much for the patience and support 🙂

are pretty generic errors, could you please report here - for each failing program - all the printouts from the program before these lines?

Thanks a lot for your help 🙂 Everytime I tried an example it failed with the same error. Below are the lines before:

Looks like there are some issues with my Csound?

right, did you by any chance follow someone's instructions to add some content in CustomMakefileTop.in in order to run the currently open csd file? If you followed the wrong instructions that would screw up executing all your projects.

giuliomoro Hmmm I did not follow any instruction. I literally just plugged in my BELA and run the examples and the error occured. Should I follow the correct instructions you posted to fix the error?

Did you receive this Bela new from the shop or did anyone else use it before it was given to you?

giuliomoro It is a used one. I'm taking classes with Dr. Richard Boulanger and he loaned his BELA to me. It is also interesting that most of the models he gave me in the SD card run perfectly fine.

Exactly, so follow the correct steps as highlighted above and it should work

giuliomoro Thanks a lot! I am trying to create CustomMakefileTop.in but not sure where root/Bela is. Is it a directory inside the IDE?

you can create a file called CustomMakefileTop.in in your current project with the desired content, then when you are done editing it, run in the console at the bottom of the IDE:

mv /root/Bela/projects/MYPROJECT/CustomMakefileTop.in /root/Bela/

replacing MYPROJECT with the name of the current project.

Should I run like the screenshot? It seems like I am not operating in the right way. The console showed that

CustomMakefileTop.in:1: *** missing separator.  Stop.

You should:

delete the first line from the file (/**** CustommakefileTop.in *****/)
paste this line in the console at the bottom: mv /root/Bela/projects/Halloween/CustomMakefileTop.in /root/Bela/
press enter to execute the line
