Hello Giulio. Thanks so much. I have been working with your 6.16.2 build and it is really great.
- please consider replacing 6.14 in your current master with 6.16.2. (it's actually 6.17 now, as you know)
I first updating my Bela to your latest master. (from the instructions in the Bela Knowledge Base)
https://learn.bela.io/using-bela/bela-techniques/updating-bela/
Then, I updated the Csound using your csound-6.16.2-bela1.deb as follows
Download the latest:
https://github.com/BelaPlatform/Bela/blob/csound-6.16.2/resources/stretch/deb/csound-6.16.2-bela1.deb
(There is a little download button there for you to press.)
Then:
- In the Bela IDE, make a new C++ project, call it updateCsound
Drag the downloaded csound-6.16.2-bela1.deb into the new project (this copies the file to the Bela)
(Note: Bela complains “Error: can’t open binary files”. This is OK. Hit Cancel)
Open Terminal and log into the Bela by typing: ssh root@bela.local
Once logged into the Bela (it says “root@bela:” at the beginning of the line)
type: apt install ~/Bela/projects/updateCsound/csound-6.16.2-bela1.deb
You can now test by running one of the Csound-examples, e.g. 0-hello-world
If you hear Csound, you can then delete the updateCsound project
I have been running all the latest opcodes, (there are many cool new analog filter models) and some control, envelope, and trigger opcodes specifically added to make it easier for Csound instruments to be triggered and toggled with switches and buttons. Students are building some pretty great csBela Guitar Pedals, csBela Synths, and csBela TableTop Vocal Processors here at Berklee for their Audio Programming Classes, Circuit-Bending Classes, for their DSP and Csound classes, and mostly for their Advanced Projects and Thesis projects!
I have one or two students a semester doing thesis (capstone) projects with the Bela now. It's great.
Thanks again.
Dr.B.
