This summer we have a great opportunity for university students who would like to learn more about open source ecosystems and be paid to contribute to the Bela project.
Google Summer of Code offers funding for students to work on an open source project over the summer break and to get expert mentorship from core developers.
We are extremely happy that this year the BeagleBoard Foundation are hosting many Bela-based projects. We have projects to suit all sort of programming backgrounds with some more focused on developments of the IDE and scope, some looking at Pure Data integration, Beaglebone AI, and others taking a deep dive into the core audio code that ties Bela together.
You can find all the Bela projects here alongside much more information on how to apply here: https://elinux.org/BeagleBoard/GSoC/Ideas-2021#Welcome.21
Mentorship for the Bela project will come from our very own @giuliomoro who I'm sure almost everyone on the forum will be familiar with! There will be weekly meetings with Giulio and ongoing support from the rest of the Bela team as the project progresses.
Don't miss out on this great opportunity for learning and contributing to an open source code base! The application deadline is quickly approaching (April 13th) so get your applications in soon. More info on how to apply can be found here: https://elinux.org/BeagleBoard/GSoC/Ideas-2021#Welcome.21
