qree , does the salt module have to be plugged into the 10pin eurorack power for the usb-ethernet connection?
no.
When Salt ships to you it has some patches preloaded. The first one is DuoWave. This is fairly CPU intensive, so that it may take a few minutes for the IDE to be ready. Have you tried leaving the board on for a while when attempting to connect?
If you plug the Eurorack connector, after about 15 seconds, the two front LEDs on the Salt module should come on. Pressing each of them will turn them off, and this will disable the oscillators, thus freeing up CPU to speed up the IDE load.
If you cannot connect to the IDE within 30 seconds from when you have disabled the LEDs, there may some issue with the micro-USB-to-molex cable in your Salt. To verify if that is the case, try using a regular micro-USB cable instead. Unplug the MicroUSB from the Beaglebone Green and use the micro USB cable directly to your computer. Does that work? If it's a problem with the cable, we can ship a replacement.
